Founded in 1986 by industrial designer Mario Gagnon, Alto design has been the benchmark for industrial design in Quebec for several decades. Constantly evolving, this creative company collaborates with an extensive innovation ecosystem and sets the standard with its services and expertise.
In 2015, at the completion of a mentoring and coaching process initiated in 2004, the organization announced the complete transfer of shareholding to three long-standing pillars: Patrick Mainville, bdi, Richard Paré, ing. and Marc-André Coutu, b. ing.
Alto design is one of the few agencies in its field to have successfully completed its leadership transfer and is pursuing its vision of perennity by appointing two new partners to the management team: Mélody Sue Myette (mechanical engineer) and Manuel Léveillé (creative lead and senior industrial designer).

Our workspaces at the heart of the Angus Technopole
Our 7400 sq. ft. creative space is an exceptional environment for stimulating innovation. Our spacious, open-plan studio has plenty of windows, a full prototyping workshop, a variety of collaborative rooms, and a kitchen and café area.
Located in the heart of the Technopole Angus in the Rosemont area, we take advantage of the unique living environment offered by this former industrial site, now redeveloped, where technology companies, health services, restaurants, boutiques, a wine bar and a brewery rub shoulders.

Alto Lab is a group of experimental activities whose themes change regularly. It is not a physical location distinct from our workspaces. It’s a state of mind that allows us to get involved in exploratory projects that meet defined business criteria. The lab enables us to explore new technologies and nurture our culture of innovation.
Our Alto Lab is a veritable playground. It allows us to test the latest technologies and put our boldest intuitions to the test.
