Verdant ZX - Energy-saving hotel controller

Simple, Smart, Intuitive

Verdant ZX was designed with simplicity and modernity in mind, making it easy to install, and even easier to use. Hotel rooms remain unoccupied more than 60% of the time on average, even when booked. Energy is therefore wasted heating and cooling empty spaces, unnecessarily inflating electrical costs. This is where Verdant’s ZX Series thermostat enters the fray! Verdant’s energy management thermostats combine smart occupancy sensors with patented software features to reduce energy consumption when rooms are unoccupied.

Guests must be able to walk up to their room control thermostat and instantly feel at ease to set their preferred temperature. This is why, even from early sketches, we came up with an intuitive dial knob combined with an easy to read E-Ink display. Multiple scenarios have been made to validate then optimize each interaction.

We got the savings we expected and our guests haven’t complained at all. It was a smooth transition changing over to Verdant thermostats and they are so much more user friendly than our last ones were.

The ZX Series feature the world’s first low power backlit E-Ink display that allows for 2 years of battery life before replacement. However, E-Ink display brings limits on interfaces design. We have simplified the visual elements as much as possible and used a monospace typography.
